Essential workers as superheroes

  • 04th Feb 2022

Dear Diary,

Our simple act of kindness can bring happiness to many. Here’s the story of Hector and his superheroes!

Amidst the chaos of the Covid-19 pandemic, our essential workers have moved heaven and earth to make sure we lived our lives in comfort and dignity. Their efforts warranted applause and recognition.

Hector Rodriguez was one of the people who gave them their due credit. He dedicated an issue of his comic book, “El Peso Hero”, about our real-life heroes: the ones we see every day – our essential workers.

In other issues of his comic book, our heroes fight injustice, racism, and inequality around the Mexico-U.S. border.

His pandemic issue, released in spring, highlights the work of nurses, doctors, immigrants, and agricultural workers – sections of society that are often overlooked.

His act of portraying our neighbors, friends, family, and loved ones as heroes tells us that not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear masks and PPE kits.

We thank all these superheroes from all over the world! They deserve to be treated with respect and gratitude.

That’s all I have for now!

I will write to you soon,

Take care.
